About

I teach photography, photojournalism/documentary photography, history, geopolitcs and anthropology for the Walden School, a public charter school in Utah based on experiential learning and rigorous academics. I spend a few months a year traveling and photographing, both solo, with my family, and leading expeditions of high school students and adults. I have spent many months traveling by local bus over most of Mexico, Guatemala, India and the Western US. A published writer and poet, with extensive outdoors experience in trekking, backpacking, some rock climbing and sea kayaking work and extensive budget travel experience. Photography is mostly documentary work, photojournalism, and adventure/outdoors photography with occasional event and portrait work thrown in. I use Canon gear, Macs, and Epson printers. Feel free to contact me regarding photo education, travel in Latin America, or for freelance work in the western US, India or Latin America.

Reserved to Fight Premeieres Wednesday on PBS

A great documentary called “Reserved to Fight” premieres this Wednesday night, November 10, 2008 on PBS.
http://www.reservedtofight.com/reserved/

The reason I’m posting it is because I’ve got a good friend whose brother is one of the men profiled in the doc, Chris. I interviewed Chris right after he returned from Iraq in 2004, and then again after his second deployment. War does seem to damage and destroy everything and everyone it touches. It certainly leaves no one unscathed. Tune in and enjoy, if thats the right word.
